- Description: Country towns are under siege by criminal migrants.

It’s not hard to notice that the loudest mouths in favour of mass immigration tend to be those with the most to gain from it and/or the least exposure to its consequences.

*Guardian* journalists with a DEI background, for instance.

> [Guardian Australia’s ](https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/video/2026/aug/18/one-nation-wants-to-restrict-migration-a-town-in-barnaby-joyces-electorate-welcomes-it-video?ref=goodoil.news)community affairs reporter **Adeshola Ore** travels to Armidale to speak with Joyce and community members, including refugees, to find out how the town squares with One Nation’s vision of a monoculture.

And spoke almost exclusively to other migrants. Most of them African. Well, fancy that.

As it happens, the almost-as-tilty-head-left *Sydney Morning Herald* (appropriately abbreviated to *SMH*) also went to Armidale – and found a very different place from the Grauniad’s Multicultural utopia.

> [Inside the towns](https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/inside-the-towns-where-kids-wear-balaclavas-and-carry-machetes-and-locals-live-in-fear-20260122-p5nwa9.html?ref=goodoil.news) where kids wear balaclavas and carry machetes – and locals live in fear.

Being a lefty rag, the *SMH* carefully avoids letting any demographic clues slip. But we can guess: nearly one-in-four Armidale residents is a migrant. The paper’s long, hand-wringing feature systematically blurs the faces of the town’s youth crime epidemic: vicious feral kids with machetes, smashing into homes at 4am, stealing cars and filming the lot for social-media glory. But, as the social media doggerel puts it: *Roses are red, violets are blue. You can blur the faces, but we already knew.*

> Residents of towns such as Armidale, Tamworth, Kempsey and Moree struggle to have sympathy.

And why would they? They live with the consequences the city elites never have to. Multiple break-ins, windows smashed with bricks, knives through doors, families sleeping in fear. One woman still panics at the sight of a discarded black glove. Another man works only one day a week, hyper-vigilant, stomach knotted, checking locks every night. Why should ordinary Australians have to live like that in their own country?

But the *SMH* solemnly informs us that:

> The claim for compassion is strong from both sides.

*Is* it, though? The long-term residents of Armidale are in their own town. The migrants and their children arrived from elsewhere.

Still, the hand-wringing continues.

> These children are traumatised through no fault of their own.

Debatable: but the shrinking population of Aussies in Armidale are even more traumatised and definitely through no fault of their own. But the crocodile tears of Sydney lefty journalists beg a simple question: If these children are so dangerously traumatised that they form packs, arm themselves and terrorise neighbourhoods, why on earth would any sane country import more of them *en masse*?

‘John’, the 16-year-old at the centre of one story, is not from the most broken home, either. Yet he ended up charged with 31 offences, including eight aggravated break-and-enters, after phone footage showed him well and truly embedded in the local car-theft and home-invasion crew. Peer pressure, social media notoriety and the glamour of “terrible tribalism” (those demographic clues just keep piling up) did the rest.

Police catch the same names again and again. Magistrates release them on bail. The legal fiction of *doli incapax* makes it almost impossible to hold 10- to 13-year-olds properly accountable. The system prioritises diversion and therapeutic language while ordinary families install security systems and wonder when the next brick will come through the window.

Towns like Armidale are case studies in what **Gad Saad** calls *Suicidal Empathy*. In this case it is more accurately homicidal empathy: the elites – *Guardian* reporters, policy-makers, the compassion industry – possess endless self-righteous empathy for the imported and the dysfunctional. They simply ensure that other people, preferably in regional Australia, bear the actual costs.

One Nation’s rising vote in these places is not a mystery. It is the predictable response of people who have been told, repeatedly, that their safety and their community are secondary to the welfare of imported savages.
