[More information on our alert level](https://covid19.govt.nz/government-actions/covid-19-alert-level/?ref=goodoil.news) ### Government COVID-19 Response Briefing ### Ministry of Health Update: - **50 new** confirmed and probable cases in NZ – **47 are confirmed and 3 are probable.** - **205 combined new and probable cases** - 22 individuals have recovered - 6 in hospital, 2 in Wellington, 1 in Rotorua, 1 in Waikato - 5 confirmed cases within Marist College Community - 1421 tested yesterday, 9780 tests in total - Number of cases will rise for roughly ten days during the lock down as the virus continues to spread. - Some community transmission in New Zealand. - There are a handful of cases – 4 – where we don’t know where the infection came from (community transmission). There’s also a cluster of cases around Marist College, where 5 students have tested positive. - Update on where current case are when the Health Ministry sends out its case map a little bit later. - Asymptomatic people aren’t tested, Bloomfield said, because it might not always be accurate. - Guidelines for funerals under level 4: there will be “very, very limited” numbers at those funerals. Further guidance will be released shortly. --- ### Civil Defence Update - 1159 tonight move to Alert Level 4 - State of National Emergency declared today - New Civil Defence powers are in place for seven days, for the time being. - Civil Defence alert tonight. It will be sent through to mobile phones. It should be familiar from the fairly regular tests carried out by Civil Defence. - Powers of requisition (basically taking things that it needs – like fuel) - Closing roads - Stopping people doing activities - Excluding people from places - Prohibiting or regulating traffic - No tolerance for non-compliance - People shouldn’t be going out for a bit of a “mooch” and only go out if they need to. - In terms of the enforcement of the lockdown, police will update us on that later on. - Now a mobile alert system in place for all New Zealanders. - If police needed to access military support to enforce alert lever four restrictions, they would be able to. --- ### Business Update - “Expectation that employers have to pass on the Government’s full wage subsidy to employees. - MBIE said it would “look at” firewood delivery as an essential service, as wood is a fuel people used to keep warm. - All non-essential staff in the public service have been sent home. Essential staff and people working on covid-19 response are still coming in to work. - Stocks said essential and covid response staff are working from home where possible. Stuff has [a list of testing centres](https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/coronavirus/120501232/coronavirus-where-can-you-get-tested-for-the-virus?ref=goodoil.news):’ > [Northland DHB](https://www.northlanddhb.org.nz/home/covid-19/covid-19-coronavirus-community-testing-centres/?ref=goodoil.news) has seven facilities set up, most of which are already open and accepting samples. These are in **Whangarei, Dargaville, Kaitaia Hospital, Kerikeri, Kaikohe, Kawakawa, and Rawene**. The centre at Dargaville is set to open on Wednesday at 8.30am. > > In Auckland, the T?maki Health/White Cross medical facility was operating three at **Airport Oaks Local Doctors, St Lukes White Cross, and Henderson White Cross Surgical Care**. Shorecare Northcross is another facilities in Auckland. It also had mobile testing units that could be deployed to help people having difficulty travelling to the sites. > > In the Wellington region, Capital & Coast, Hutt Valley, and Wairarapa DHBs are planning to open testing centres in areas that ensure vulnerable communities with low primary care coverage have access to testing. > > [The former Suburban Club building](https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/coronavirus/120496658/coronavirus-assessment-centre-opens-in-nelson-as-further-cases-confirmed?ref=goodoil.news) in **Tahunanui?, Nelson** has been turned into the largest coronavirus assessment centre in the top of the South Island.
