The [Tempus Nicaragua](https://www.canteros.nz/collections/premiums-alec-bradley-tempus-nicaragua?ref=goodoil.news) is a Nica Puro that has been rated in the mid 90’s on numerous occasions. It is listed as being a medium-full Let’s take a look at it’s make up.

| Brand | Alec Bradley |
| ------- | ------------------------------ |
| Size | Medius 6 (6×52) |
| Wrapper | Nica Jalapa |
| Binder | Nica double |
| Filler | Nica; Jalapa, Condega & Esteli |

Personally, I can’t make up my mind on Puros, I have smoked many that are fantastic cigars but I wonder if the blenders are compromising the stick just to make it a puro… I would like to think the cigar blend takes priority and then if it happens to be that the stick they make is a puro then cool, but I think that the reality is that the idea of making a puro dictates the blending. However, on paper, this cigar sounds awesome so let’s see how it stacks up.

| Construction | 9/10 |
| ------------ | ---- |
| Burn | 8/10 |
| Draw | 8/10 |
| Complexity | 9/10 |
| Flavour | 9/10 |
| Strength | 8/10 |

**Construction & Burn**

The construction is fantastic, nice oily wrapper with lots of veins. The burn had a little trouble in the first 1/3 which let down the score but the remainder of the stick it burnt perfectly.

**Draw**

During the burn issues in the first 1/3 the draw was a little weak for my liking but that did correct itself fairly quickly. 20minutes in the draw was outstanding and it stayed that way through to the nub.

**Flavours**

Dominant earth and wood flavours make up the majority of this cigar, there is also some hints of nut and a slight sweetness at times.

**Overall**

This is a great cigar. Although this sample has some teething issues any negative thoughts soon disappeared once it came into its own. It has a nice clean but complex flavour set and burns cool right to the end. I would be more than happy to smoke one again.

**Beer Pairing**

I don’t always add this to my reviews but I think today’s pairing was perfect and worth a mention. I coupled this stick with the ‘Jamaican Me Thirsty’ spiced rum dark ale by Rhyme x Reason.
