Former Auckland Mayoral candidate and political commentator Stephen Berry is encouraging people to have as much information available as possible before casting their vote and recommends they use the [Absolutely Biased Guide to the Auckland Local Elections.](https://goodoil.news/absolutely-biased-guide-to-the-auckland-local-elections-2022/) “Every voting paper will be accompanied by a booklet of statements from each candidate to tell you what they stand for,” Berry says. “Unfortunately many of those candidates are either completely ignorant of what is legally achievable, especially at Local Board level, or use 150 words to tell voters nothing at all.” Stephen Berry has taken the guesswork out of the process of voting, especially for voters wanting to elect centre-right representatives that support lower rates, private property rights, focusing Council efforts on core services and addressing the $90-150 million per year deficit over the next decade. “Some candidate statements require voters to try to read between the lines, like the back label of a pretentious bottle of wine. Other candidates want to give their favourite demographic group, which is usually their own age or racial group, representation because apparently all people with a particular skin colour all think the same. “There are too many candidates promoting nothing more than diversity and equity. Diversity being the idea that people’s unchangeable characteristics, such as gender, sexuality and ethnicity are more important than individuals themselves.
