The following are additional instances where the **official recommendations** from science advisors provided to government **did not reach the public**. **The** [**21 July 2021 CV TAG Memo**](https://nzdsos.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/1-CV-TAG-Memo-re-Myocarditis-following-Vaccination-21-Jul-2021.pdf?ref=goodoil.news) **re myocarditis following vaccination records:** > 24\. CV TAG recommends that: > > **a) People aged 16–29 years receive their second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at least 8 weeks after the first dose.** A longer interval between doses **may reduce the frequency of some side effects** while conferring robust protection from COVID-19. > > **d) Anyone who develops confirmed myocarditis and/or pericarditis after the first dose should not receive a second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.** CV TAG will consider alternative options for a second dose of COVID-19 vaccination in this group at a future date as evidence emerges from overseas safety monitoring sources. It was requested that references to increasing dosing intervals potentially providing some protection against myocarditis be removed from communications.** This has been actioned. Who requested this and why? These same minutes note: > 5.0 Dosing Interval for Pfizer > > The Chair shared that the extension of the interval between doses was accepted by the Director-General and announced by the Prime Minister last week and was **framed as providing greater population protection**.
