> I’ve written this book called *The House of Wolf* and it’s about King Alfred. It’s a saga, because I’ve always loved sagas. I loved HBO and Netflix and *Bridgerton* and *Game of Thrones*, *Succession*, and so I’ve wanted to write a novel that is absolutely imbued with history, but is a page turner as well, where it’s full of people sleeping with inappropriate other people, all those things that we love watching on the telly.

> In the same way that Charles Dickens was so influenced by the magazines that he read and which he wrote for, I feel the same way about Netflix, so I’m pleased to say that the history professors say, ‘Oh yeah, it’s a very interesting spin, yeah, I like that very much.’

> I’ve had lovely, lovely reviews, but also it’s something that people who aren’t necessarily particularly interested in history like, because it’s fun.

> I want to tell people about the book – it’s about how England was invented by King Alfred – but also the kind of things that we’ve been talking about, except possibly the toilet paper.

> I like my show to be fun. I like it to be engaging. I like people to interact and engage with me, that’s what it’s about. There will be history, of course, because I’m that kind of bloke, but I just want it to be something that people will enjoy.
