Around New Zealand, crime rates continue to rise. Last night *Newshub* published an article focusing on burglaries and theft, and the impact on victims.

> “We’ve certainly seen an increase in the last 12 to 18 months,” \[Canterbury Metro Commander\] Superintendent Lane Todd told *Newshub*.

> It’s the most invasive thefts that are up.

**From August 2021 to August 2022, national property crimes are up by more than 28,000\. Auckland is up by 11,000 and Christchurch 5,633.**
