manipulate (verb) – 1\. To move, arrange, operate, or control by the hands or another body part or by mechanical means, especially in a skillful manner.

1. To influence or manage shrewdly or deviously.
2. To tamper with or falsify for personal gain.
3. Medicine To handle and move in an examination or for therapeutic purposes.

Etymology : 1827, “to handle skillfully by hand,” a back-formation from manipulation. As “to manage by mental influence,” especially for one’s own purposes, is by 1864\. Financial sense is from 1870\. By 1949 it served as a euphemism for “masturbate.”
