- Description: The great moral posturers are exposed yet again as a toxic, dysfunctional cabal.

As **Judith Collins** once said, the more fervently someone assures you of their honesty, the more carefully you should check your pockets. And as **Jacinda Ardern** proved, politicians who prate the loudest about ‘kindness’ are invariably the most despicable tyrants they can get away with being.

Then there’s the Greens.

Oh, lordy-lord, the Greens. They might posture as the politically purest of the pure, but, under the sickening cloak of sanctimony, they’re invariably simply disgusting people. Like the infamous 1960s’ Melbourne bishop who’d go from thundering at the pulpit about modern immorality, to rogering altar boys in the vestry right after service, the Greens are simultaneously the most publicly self-righteous and privately hideous hypocrites imaginable.

No matter what country they’re polluting, the Greens are invariably the most toxic sludge in any polity. In Germany, they were literally founded by a roster of ex-Nazis. In Britain, they’ve become the most openly antisemitic movement since Mosley’s BUF. In New Zealand, they’ve played host to shoplifters, alleged groomers and exploiters of migrant labour.

And Australia? Oh, boy, do the Australian Greens ’ave ’em. Rape accusations, sexual harassment, antisemitism, theft, Stalinism, racism and advocacy for bestiality and necrophilia… there’s no rock so low the Australian Greens won’t slither under it.

And now, one of their most self-righteous poster-boys is making a name for himself in the worst possible ways.

Meet Senator **Jordon Steele-John**, the youthful luminary who entered the Senate at just 23 via the farcical constitutional trapdoor left by **Scott Ludlam**’s dual-citizenship debacle. For years, the Greens marketed the lad as the holy grail of intersectional virtue: young, disabled, fiercely progressive and relentlessly preachy. But behind the performative morality, it turns out the party hierarchy was allegedly sitting on an open sewer of warnings.

According to explosive reports, seven party members, including five current staffers, finally dropped a correspondence bomb directly onto the desk of newly minted Greens leader **David Shoebridge**.

> [“We have been made aware](https://www.theaustralian.com.au/nation/greens-to-probe-allegations-against-west-australian-senator-jordon-steelejohn/news-story/baf9c2152720f1bbe108098cc829d992?ref=goodoil.news) of multiple allegations … being made against WA Federal Senator, Jordon Steele-John spanning almost a decade (2017–2025). These allegations all concern his behaviour in the presence of women. We are aware of multiple women who have taken up roles or volunteered in the party, who because of these allegations, have been warned not to … be alone with him,” the authors state.

Let that sink in for a moment. In the very party that ceaselessly lectures the Australian public on ‘safe workplaces’, toxic masculinity and the absolute imperative to ‘believe all women’, female volunteers and staffers were quietly advised to treat one of their own federal senators like a biological hazard.

Naturally, Steele-John has stepped aside from the party room while maintaining his utter innocence, as he has every right to. His defence is that the murmurs stem from a past relationship where he suffered domestic abuse and that he is working with police to resolve it, which is not, as we well know, entirely implausible.

> “I utterly reject this characterisation of me, which tries to assert I am someone I am not,” Senator Steele-John said in a statement. “I have referred this matter to the WA Greens, so that a fair, independent process can be commissioned that upholds the principles of natural justice and ensures procedural fairness for everyone involved.”

Fair enough, too. But we don’t have to assume Steele-John’s guilt to judge the party very harshly, indeed. Usually, when an accusation is levelled at anyone right of **Leon Trotsky**, the Greens demand immediate public defenestration – no trial required. But when the blowtorch turns inward? Suddenly, they require meticulous, secretive, closed-door reviews run by their own state branches.

That this is far from the first time the Greens have acted this way – quietly shushing up accusations from women for the good of the party – is a damning indictment on their own self-righteous posturing.

Meanwhile, Dear Leader Shoebridge, himself no stranger to staff bullying accusations in his previous New South Wales state parliamentary roost, performed the classic political shuffle.

> “I received correspondence in relation to Senator Steele-John earlier this week … When matters like this are raised, they require a fair, an independent, and a timely process for them to be dealt with,” he said.

When confronted with 2018 Young Greens minutes detailing prior sexual harassment claims against the senator, Shoebridge pleaded historical amnesia, noting he was in a different parliament at the time. Yet party insiders tell a vastly different tale: that the hierarchy had known about the young man’s dubious online conduct before he even set foot in Canberra and deliberately smothered the complaints to protect their shiny new parliamentary commodity.

It’s merely the latest chapter in the rancid soap opera of the Australian Greens. Having bled lower-house seats, shed indigenous senators **Lidia Thorpe** and **Dorinda Cox** amid ferocious recriminations and descended into vicious factional bloodletting, the great moral arbiters of the nation are once again revealed as the most dysfunctional, toxic cabal in a parliament full to the gunwales with human pond scum.
