On Facebook last week the **Hamilton City Council** boasted about their Te Awa River Path project.

> Last night our Te Awa River Path Project won the Excellence in Social Impact Award, at the 2020 Infrastructure Awards. ?
>
> The fast-tracked project re-opened a section of Hamilton’s river path and provided work for 50 people after the COVID-19 lockdown. Congratulations to our team and all those involved!

The [article](https://ourhamilton.co.nz/on-the-move/partnership-in-action-wins-social-impact-award/?ref=goodoil.news) about the project had its comment section closed but on Facebook, a few commenters managed to call the Council out for its fake news. They included photographic evidence to reveal that the so-called award-winning project was in fact…**closed to the public.**

Ooops!
