# This Dish Was Definitely Served Cold

Revenge, as they say, is a dish best served cold. **Adem Somyurek** has kept his knife in the freezer for six years: this week he stuck it into the Victorian Labor government with gusto.

Somyurek was once the model cog in the Labor machine. Double arts degrees, an apprenticeship as a Labor staffer and, of course, the ‘correct’ ethnic pedigree. He was rewarded with a safe seat and multiple ministries.

Then he screwed up: he told the truth to the wrong ears.

That truth is that Labor jumps to the crack of the whips of its Faceless Men: the ethnic vote-wranglers, branch-stackers and faceless head-kickers. Covert recordings published by the media recorded Somyurek boasting that “Fuck the premier. Alright? That’s what this is about. Fuck the premier. I’ll be just running the joint, like, it’s who I say is going to be the fucking premier.” The premier in question was **Daniel Andrews**, whom Somyurek described as “untrustworthy and a cunt”.

Such unvarnished truth-telling, in Labor circles, is an unforgivable sin. Somyurek was booted, went on to win his seat back at the next election and waited for his moment to strike.

That moment has apparently come: with an election just two months away, the last thing the hapless **Ben Carroll** wants is a parliamentary humiliation like this.

There are only three more sitting days in late September before the election.

Carroll can huff and puff all he likes: he’s still going to end up looking the prat that he is.

> Business Council of Australia chief executive **Bran Black** said the committee referral “should be the final nail in the coffin for this economy wrecking legislation”.

> “The bill is not needed, it hurts jobs and adds costs to businesses at the worst time,” he said.

> “The government must do the right thing by Victorians and let this legislation go now.”

Even the Libertarian MP **David Limbrick** lined up to stick the boot in.

Hasn’t he been paying attention? Punishing wealth creators and causing business to flee has become Victorian Labor’s mission statement.

And one of their one-time own has just become their worst nightmare.
