**Family First**

With the sudden departure of Judith Collins from the leadership of the National Party, the battle is now on for a new leader (and ultimately the alternative Prime Minister if there was a change of government).

Below is a brief summary of the potential candidates for both the potential **leader** and **deputy leader** positions, and how they’ve voted on some key (and contentious) issues.

Leadership candidates voting record.

For a full explanation of the voting issues listed, [CLICK HERE](https://valueyourvote.org.nz/2020-general-election/?ref=goodoil.news#!issues). Please also note that for Christopher Luxon who only entered Parliament last year, we have relied on his public statements for a couple of the big issues.

As you can quickly see from our analysis, there are some candidates for the next leader who we would argue are more ‘family-friendly’ and with conservative values than other candidates – in our view. Let’s hope that the National caucus agrees.
