Many songs get covered or re-interpreted, the covers often being more successful than the original.

Here are some cover versions of one song along with the original, let us know in the comments which is your favourite, or if you don’t like any of them.

“Sweet Jane” is a song written by Lou Reed and first released by The Velvet Underground on the 1970 album “Loaded”.

It has been covered/re-interpreted by several acts including:

Mott The Hopple on their 1972 album “All The Young Dudes”.

Brownsville Station on the 1973 album “Yeah!”.

Lou Reed on his 1974 solo live album “Rock n Roll Animal”.

The Jim Carroll Band on their 1983 album “I Write Your Name”.

The Cowboy Junkies on their 1988 album “The Trinity Sessions”.
