Many songs get covered or re-interpreted, the covers often being more successful than the original.

Here are some cover versions of one song along with the original, let us know in the comments which is your favourite, or if you don’t like any of them.

“Rip It Up’ is a song written by Robert Blackwell and John Marascalco. It was first recorded by Little Richard and released in 1956 as a single.

It has been covered by many acts including:

Elvis Presley on his 1956 album “Elvis”.

The Everly Brothers on their 1957 album “The Everly Brothers (They’re Off and Rolling)”.

Chuck Berry on his 1961 album “New Juke Box Hits”.

Gerry and The Pacemakers on their 1965 album “I’ll Be There”.

Shakin’ Stevens and The Sunsets on the 1972 album “ Rockin’ and Shakin’ ”.

The Zombies on the 1985 album “Live At The BBC” consisting of tracks recorded 1965-1967.

Alvin Lee on his 2013 live album “The Last Show”.
