Many songs get covered or re-interpreted, the covers often being more successful than the original.

Here are some cover versions of one song along with the original, let us know in the comments which is your favourite, or if you don’t like any of them.

“Downtown Train” is a song written by Tom Waits and first released on his 1985 album “Rain Dogs”.

It has been covered by several acts including:

Patty Smyth on her 1987 album “Never Enough”.

Rod Stewart released his take as a 1989 single and on his 1989 album “Storyteller”.

Everything but the Girl released their version as a 1990 single.

Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band both as a 2011 single and on the 2011 album “Ultimate Hits-Rock and Roll Never Forgets”.
