- Description: How much longer will parents be gaslit into handing their precious children to strangers?

When future generations write the history of the last few decades of Western society, the big question they’ll be asking is: *How did we fall for it all?* How did we let ourselves be gaslit into slavishly following along with some of the most destructive policy agendas in human history?

Mass immigration and Multiculturalism have wrecked the West. The Long March through the Institutions has white-anted every Western institution. Climate Cultism and the Covid hysteria have smashed our economies and opened the gates for a panopticon police state where thousands of Britons are arrested every year for social media posts, while thousands of immigrant rapists and child-molesters live free in taxpayer-funded luxury.

Modern feminism birthed so-called ‘gender theory’, which has left a generation of children fatally confused, surgically mutilated and chemically castrated. At the same time, Third-Wave feminism has left generations of women locked in a haze of chemically induced, childless misery. Even the modern Western women who *have* children are taught that they are a burden who must be palmed off to the state practically from birth. Killing them is celebrated as an act of feminist liberation.

The greatest puzzle, though, is that we did all this voluntarily. Somehow, we let ourselves be persuaded that all of this was ‘progressive’ and ‘the right side of history’. No matter how undeniable the evidence of harm, the gaslighting was relentless and stunningly successful.

Not least when it comes to childcare.

Outside of the hellholes of communism, what society in human history has ever decided it was a good idea for parents, mothers especially, to surrender their children to the state-run ‘care’ of complete strangers, in exchange for another few years of cubicle-misery careerism?

Decades ago, cartoonist **Michael Leunig** was excoriated for exploring the ‘thoughts of a baby left in childcare’. Even now, despite constant revelations of the most sinister abuse of babies and toddlers in childcare, governments tout ‘universal childcare’ as their dearest goal – and women vote for them. Even though we know the centres are a magnet for abusers of the worst possible kind.

If not the child-molesters, then the child-bashers. Like this monstrous woman.

>
> Childcare worker **Edwina Ling** has been called all three.

And they’re all understatements.

Across three wretched days in a remote corner of Cape York, a helpless 13-month-old infant was subjected to an absolute litany of depravities: slapped, kicked and tossed about like a rag doll by an individual whose very presence in a room designated for infants represents a catastrophic failure of the civilisational contract.

> More than 80 assaults took place over three days in late August and early September 2024, all captured on camera. The 13-month-old was subjected to 55 of them \[…\]
>
> “You just can’t imagine how someone can be so cruel to babies,” says the mother of the youngest victim, who was just 13 months old when Ling went on a violent three-day spree of slapping, kicking and throwing him around like a rag doll.

A mother whose life has been upended by the very bureaucracy that promised a safe harbour while she contributed to the glorious GDP.

> The little boy’s parents had no idea about the horrors that were being inflicted on their son, but there were warning signs, which were not acted on.

It transpires that this particular facility operated conveniently beyond the purview of the National Quality Framework, languishing instead in a regulatory netherworld. The perpetrator, Edwina Ling, armed with little more than a casual cleaning background and a history of personal instability, was promptly elevated to the baby room through connections that reek of parochial nepotism.

> Former educator **Lena Baragud**, who worked at Injinoo, says she saw Ling being rough with children, including yanking them by the arms and legs, and refusing some of them food when they were hungry.
>
> “Sometimes she’d just take one kid by a leg or something,” Baragud says, remembering how children would retreat to the other side of the room whenever Ling walked in.
>
> “She was horrible. She was a monster … She was the devil.”

Yet, there she was. One has to wonder how many more are lurking, undetected. Or at least, undisclosed.

When the inevitable horror finally breached the surface, discovered via closed-circuit television rather than administrative vigilance, the institutional response followed the time-honoured bureaucratic playbook: deflect, obfuscate and minimise. While official bodies bicker over jurisdiction and scramble to fold remote services into a centralised system, the parents are left picking up the pieces, burdened by the haunting query of how such profound wickedness went unnoticed for so long.

> District Court Judge **Dean Morzone** KC described her offending as ‘monstrous, cruel and sadistic’ and ‘a gross breach of trust’.

Yet the magistrate’s righteous condemnation brings little comfort when the system itself continues to grease the wheels for this very form of institutionalised child-warehousing. We are perpetually told that surrendering our progeny to the state is the hallmark of a modern, enlightened economy. But as the bruised bodies of toddlers in remote Queensland painfully demonstrate, the price of our collective careerism is frequently paid in the currency of the innocent.

Until we muster the moral clarity to abandon the cult of universal childcare, we remain entirely complicit in the tragedy.
