2022 Was Not an Easy Year. Will 2023 See Change?

New Zealand’s Chantelle Baker – Reporter.
This time last year people were being told they could not attend their Christmas parties, families were debating whether to allow their unvaccinated members to join them for dinner, restaurants were denying people and New Years’ Eve loomed gloomily for hundreds of thousands of Kiwis.

What a difference a year makes.

Now, the day after Christmas, there’s hope in the air. Families who excluded others have changed their tune, friends are reuniting, and the media is beginning to look at the harm that this divisive Government has caused.

On a personal note, I started 2022 still employed in investing and at a crossroads between heading back into the office after the holiday break or pursuing educating people about what was going on here in New Zealand. Thankfully, I chose the latter as less than four weeks later, the Wellington Protest began (and you all know what happened there!)

Fast forward to August when Jacob, Phil and I launched Operation People out to the world. Now we are working this week on developing OP for 2023 including editing the backlog of videos we have filmed over the last 6 months with a focus on free speech. New Zealand needs to understand how close we are to an authoritarianism and we believe media is the key to creating change.

So that is 2022 in a nutshell.

All-in-all, leaving a corporate environment for a life that involves slander in the media, daily digital harassment and unknown finances has been the best decision I’ve ever made.

All I have left to say, is thank you and have a fantastic New Years.
