Jacinda has called it a COVID election which means that this election in her view is all about a virus. She probably doesn’t realise it but it appears she has made it a virus election on more than one count. The word virus has a number of synonyms. One is ‘communicable’. This word has a number of definitions including readily communicated as in communicable ideas. Another definition is talkative.
Contagion is also a synonym of virus. A somewhat surprising synonym for contagion is corruption. The definition of corruption is the act of corrupting or of impairing integrity, virtue or moral principle; the state of being corrupted or debased; loss of purity or integrity; depravity; wickedness; impurity; bribery. Then we come to venom, also a synonym for virus. Figuratively speaking this is a feeling or speech marked by spite or malice.
Poison is another. In this case the appropriate definition is something harmful or destructive to happiness or welfare, such as an idea or emotion. Another synonym is canker. Canker is anything that corrupts or gradually destroys. Take another one, infection which brings us to infectious as in an infectious laugh.
The point I’m making is that when investigating synonyms for the word virus there is a link in the synonyms between sickness and human behaviour. We have seen some good communicable ideas this election, mainly from the right I must add. In terms of being talkative, we have had a lot of it, much coming from the left that has consisted of saying nothing. Any link between contagion and corruption is best left to the individual to make up their own mind. My only comment is that it is fairly obvious on the campaign trail that Jacinda is contagious in the popular sense of the word.

Venom, well we’ve seen plenty of that from leftie journalists directed at the right of course. In the sense of being harmful or destructive to happiness and welfare, I think COVID has been something of a poison caused mainly by the Government who have turned it into an emotive issue. Infectious, well you have to admit Jacinda is that. Everywhere you look, there she is taking yet another selfie with a fan.
To sum up, a contagious, infectious and talkative Jacinda has used COVID in a way that, in my view, lacks integrity. She has been backed up by a good dollop of supportive venom from her idols in the media and because of that she probably has this election in the bag.
