As former Australian PM Julia Gillard recently said, too many of the most passionate loudmouths cheering on Hamas are almost entirely ignorant of the facts of history regarding Israel and “Palestine”.
“I think a lot of what is going on today is a distortion of history from social media. It’s a misunderstanding about how Israel came into existence. It’s a misunderstanding about the nature of the conflict.”
Too many journalists aren’t much better. This is all too evident in the almost slavering glee with which much of the media greeted the nonsensical “arrest warrant” issued by the International Criminal Court. Not only does this warrant make a deliberately false equivalence between the warlords of a prescribed terrorist group and the duly elected leader of a liberal democracy, but it’s also issued by a disgraced body whose political DNA is wholly fused with anti-Semitic hate.
As should surprise no one, the institutional anti-Semitism of the ICC stems from the Islamic world.
An integral purpose of the ICC’s political project has always been to delegitimise Israel. A target was drawn on Israel in the 1990s during the drafting of the Rome Statute for the ICC. The Organisation for Islamic Cooperation made this a condition of participation by Muslim countries. With 57 members, the OIC is the world’s biggest organisation by membership (other than the UN itself). Its participation was necessary for the global criminal law project to proceed.
The OIC required that the ICC definition of forced transfer of civilian populations be expanded as a war crime. New language introduced into the Rome Statute criminalised voluntary civilian migration of Jews into the areas of Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria now called the West Bank. Although the ICC statute codified other existing war crimes, this became a new retrospective war crime invented in the Rome Statute.
This crime of allowing Jews to live voluntarily in the West Bank and Jerusalem has been under examination in the ICC since 2014. The previous chief prosecutor, in close liaison with Palestinian bodies and advisers from the OIC, geared the examination up to a prosecutorial investigation in 2020.
It’s not just the definitions used by the ICC, either. It’s more than notable that the warrant was issued at the behest of two Pakistani Muslims — chief prosecutor Karim Khan and “human rights” lawyer Amal Clooney.
Khan is the godson and protege of Pakistan’s first foreign minister, Sir Muhammad Zafarullah Khan. The elder Khan was a trenchant anti-Semite who furiously opposed the establishment and existence of Israel for his entire career. The ICC’s Khan desribes him as a pivotal influence.
No kidding.
The ICC sure has a way of picking its chief prosecutors.
The previous chief prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, had been legal adviser and attorney-general in her home country, Gabon, under the dictatorship of Yahyah Jammeh, overseeing disappearances, political prosecutions and torture. Questionable dealings ran in the family, with her husband a bulk oil dealer in North Africa and her son a drug trafficker in the US.
The ICC is far from the only globalist legal institution polluted by the insidious river of endemic Islamic anti-Semitism.
The networks of such prejudicial influence extend well beyond the ICC into other legal institutions. Sir Muhammad Zafarullah Khan was also a president of the UN International Court of Justice, just like the current president of the ICJ, Nawaf Salam. Judge Salam was the Lebanese ambassador to the UN, where he was well known for constant invective against Israel. Unsurprisingly, he is not withdrawing or recusing himself in the current cases against Israel.
Egyptian and Jordanian judges in the ICJ were similarly pleased to execute judgments against Israel, despite their obvious bias from previous high-level national political roles.
The Australian
Even here in Australia, the baleful influence of anti-Semitic Islam is pervasive. The Labor government of Anthony Albanese is desperately dependent on Muslim Western Sydney if it’s to have any hope of clinging to government at the next election. The government has the highest number of Muslim MPs and ministers in Australian history — wildly disproportionate, it must be noted, to the actual percentage of Muslim voters.
The Australian Human Rights Commission is also honeycombed with anti-Semitism. As Quadrant magazine outlined recently, the AHRC has been taken over by a pro-Hamas fifth column.
They intimidate and insult their HRC President Rosalind Croucher with impunity. Some turn up for work in keffiyehs.

The pro-Hamas lobby at the AHRC, judging by an “open letter” (which, curiously, anonymised its signatories) complaining that the organisation wasn’t batting sufficiently hard for Hamas, amounts to at least 20% of staff.
The ICC is the most obviously anti-Semitic legal witch-hunt since the Dreyfuss Affair.
