GENESIS COAL BURN AT 5 YEAR HIGH —–  screamed a recent headline, the company’s biggest coal-burn since mid-2013.

According to the report 120,000 tonnes of Indonesian coal were ordered and, consequently, wholesale power prices remain high.

An Energy Link spokesman said that the higher cost of imported coal and the ‘bleak’ outlook for longer-term gas supplies — given the government’s offshore exploration ban — have also contributed.

All of this is more proof that the current government, with its chosen (not elected) prime minister, has no understanding of business and even less understanding of consequences. This government is driven purely by ideology and the debt that it owes the Greens for keeping it in power.

I came across this BEDTIME STORY which has no direct link with the cost of power but maybe is an example of where this government is at.

BEDTIME STORY

Once upon a time a government department and the Japanese decided to have a boat race. Both practised long and hard to reach their peak performance. On the day, the Japanese won by a mile.

Senior management decided that the reason for the crushing defeat had to be found, and a committee was set up to investigate the problem. They found that the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, while the government department had 1 person rowing and 8 people steering.
