According to The Narrative, the Russia-Ukraine war is the Great Moral Struggle of our times. The totalitarian Russian behemoth is waging a war, not just on one of its former provinces, but on Freedom and Democracy itself. Vladimir Putin is no less than the New Hitler (of course, these days, everyone is the “new Hitler”, so Vlad can rest easy that the mantle of new-Hitlerdom will be passed on as soon as Twitter finds something new to be outraged about. Has anyone called Will Smith “literally Hitler” yet?)

But the moral posturers of the West have far grubbier motives than they want us to know. Once again, it’s all about the Benjamins.

Not just the Biden family’s dodgy web of kickbacks in the Ukraine, but the entire profit-making war machine.

The U.S. is set to be the big winners as Europe freezes Russia out of the gas market. European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen spoke to reporters on Friday at a press conference after a two-day summit in Brussels, Belgium. Von Der Leyen said that the European Union will purchase gas and divide it among the member states.

Well, now, isn’t that just all too convenient?

We’ve known for years that Europe’s insane rush to leap off the cliff of “net zero emissions” has made it dangerously dependent on Russian gas. So, now it’s going to make itself dependent on U. S. gas, instead.

Many European nations still rely on Russia for gas, especially Germany that heavily relies on Russian gas and has said that if Russian gas is sanctioned, the German economy could crash.

But with Russia moving to force nations to pay for its gas in Rubles, the European Union is looking at ways to acquire gas elsewhere. In steps the United States to the rescue once again, of course they will receive a big financial gain if the European Union agrees to buy their gas.

This bout of mutual back-scratching will cost the European energy consumer even more dearly than Angela Merkel’s green follies.

American LNG is more expensive than the Russian alternative and the logistics of getting the gas to Europe is enormous. This involves condensing the gas to fill special tanker ships and then converting it back to gas on arrival at a special purpose-built port facility. Currently Europe has two dozen of these LNG import terminals but none in Germany which has always been the sticking point in previous attempts from the U.S. to sell gas to Europe.

Yet Joe Biden still has the gall to try and play this as a moral issue.

“I know eliminating Russian gas will have costs for Europe,” “It’s not only the right thing to do from a moral standpoint,” Biden said.

The fact that it will line the pockets of American plutocrats, most of them deep in the pockets of the ruling Democrat party, is purely coincidental.

In case anyone doubts that it’s all about the filthy lucre, just ask the Masters of War.

U.S. military contractors—Raytheon and Lockheed Martin corporations—are telling their investors the tensions are good for business, while General Dynamics corporation boasts that past such disputes have expanded their bottom line.

They’re not kidding.

The U.S. has committed more than $3 billion in military assistance to Ukraine since 2014, including $350 million worth of weapons recently authorized by President Biden.
