The mystery of the saga of the ‘Queen of Scots’ has taken another twist. Yet again, it appears both that there is much more to the story than we are being officially told and the more authorities withhold details, the more people will fill the gaps with presumptions which suit their prejudices, one way or another. UK police, government and media have clearly learned nothing from Southport and yet again the nation edges closer to the abyss of mass violence.
The added twist is that a man and a woman have been charged over the incident, nearly two weeks after the incident. The 12-year-old girl seen in the viral video was charged after just two days.
And we’re still no closer to knowing for certain what really happened.
Note how little the BBC tells its readers, and how authorities are yet again finger wagging people for perfectly naturally trying to fill in the official blanks.
A man and woman have been charged over an incident that saw a 12-year-old girl allegedly brandishing weapons on a Dundee street.
The girl was earlier charged with possessing offensive weapons in St Ann Lane, in the Lochee area of the city, on Saturday 23 August.
Police Scotland said officers had made “extensive inquiries” into the incident and repeated pleas for people not to share misinformation on social media.
They have not identified the man or woman, or shared the nature of the charges.
To be fair, media are bound by sub judice rules that restrict some reporting, but there’s nothing to prevent identifying adults charged with crimes. However it appears that, here, police and media are hiding behind the excuse that identifying the adults might lead to a minor/s involved being identified.
Except pretty much everyone knows the girl’s name already.
What else do we know about the incident and those involved?
A BULGARIAN dad who filmed a girl of 12 allegedly waving an axe posed in a video wearing a balaclava.
Fatos Ali Dumana, 21, also described himself as a “gypsy gangster” in bizarre social media posts.
In some online clips, he makes an obscene gesture towards the camera.
And a caption for a snap of him next to a flash motor says: “I’m waiting for you whores to get in my supercar.”
Mr Dumana, who legally emigrated to the UK in 2021, sparked a storm after he recorded the kid in Dundee.
Well, again to be fair, this all seems to be pretty typical stuff for a certain type of young male posting on social media. All faux-American ghetto ‘gangsta’ culture and macho swagger.
Last year he announced online: “Today I am 21 years old. And now life happens.
“Harder and treacherous but I will not surrender.”
Yeah, yeah, all very tough, champ – but the internet is forever, and, like it or not, people are going to make judgements based on stupid social media posts.
From here, we get even further into the murk of innuendo and speculation that inevitably swirls when those in positions of responsibility refuse to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
For instance, X users are sharing an image of a hospital report, purporting to be for one of the girls involved. While information such as full names, addresses, and date of birth have been rightly redacted, the date and location match with the viral video (the hospital is just minutes from where the incident occurred).
The report states that “X old female, accompanied by mum” attended the Emergency Department at 8pm about 20 minutes after the video incident. She was treated for “head injury – concussion” before being discharged 90 minutes later. The girl’s surname is given as Moir.
From here, we dive deeper into the waters of rumour and speculation. X user “Basil the Great” (as in The Great Mouse Detective animated movie) claims that the hospital record belongs to Ruby Moir, claimed to be the sister of Lola Moir, allegedly the name of the girl holding the knife and axe in the video.
• Police Scotland originally claimed that CCTV footage went missing but it proved that only Lola Moir had committed a crime by being in possession of dangerous weapons
• It is now claimed that this is a lie and there is proof that Police Scotland attempted to cover up the crime of Fatos and his sister assaulting the little girls
The same X user claims that Police Scotland have charged Dumana with assaulting a minor, a criminal offence under Scotland’s Children (Equal Protection from Assault) (Scotland) Act 2019.
• This was a vicious attack in which they attacked Ruby unprovoked , yanked her to the ground and the pair of them kicked Ruby in the head while she lay on the ground defenceless
• This is what motivated Lola to pull out the weapons to scare off Fatos and his sister […]
• The Moir family also claim they have a recording of an interview with Police Scotland in which the police admit that Ruby and Lola’s sequence of events is correct corroborating their entire story.
• Police Scotland have promised to issue a statement in the coming days confirming all of this
So, that’s the sum of both what we know and what some are alleging. Not unreasonably, others, particularly Scots familiar with Dundee, are urging caution. Comedian Mark ‘Count Dankula’ Meechan has talked about how common knife crime is in Dundee. Conservative Christian commentator David Robertson, formerly minister of St Peters Free Church in Dundee Scotland for 27 years, also provides background on the area.
I know the Lochee area – and even the roundabout where the incident occurred – very well. I have family who are planting a church in the neighbouring housing scheme and often deal with teenagers like these young girls.
During my time in Dundee, I was assaulted twice by teenagers and drug addicts. Not far from where this incident occurred, I once visited a home, where there was a queue outside a door across the street. It was a queue of teenagers from the local school collecting their drugs.
Another time a church we planted was not able to meet one Sunday because a man had been macheted to death on the doorstep. I have no difficulty in believing that teenage girls would be carrying weapons.
Which doesn’t mean that the incident didn’t happen as described. Only that, thanks to yet another suffocating blanket of official silence, we just don’t know.
And the longer we’re forbidden from knowing, the more speculation and conspiracy theories will fill the void.
