Women’s rights advocate and recent speaker at the Forum on the Family here in Auckland, Kirralie Smith from Binary Australia, continues to be persecuted by Australian authorities for stating the obvious – that biological men cannot become women, and nor can biological women become men. Binary Australia is dedicated to protecting and promoting single-sex sports.

Kirralie recently appealed what is known as an ‘apprehension of violence order’ or AVO. This was placed against her for simply stating online that a biological male was playing in a women’s football team. Using publicly available images, she called out the simple fact that a man was playing in a women’s team and stressed their presence increased the risk of injury to female players.

She was also behind a letter writing campaign to Football New South Wales after FNSW embraced gender identity, allowing men into women’s teams. It is reported that over 12,000 people wrote in to express their objection to the policy.

Tellingly, when Kirralie pointed out in a social media post that the highest goal scorer in the women’s league was a biological man, the football association removed the player’s name from its own posts.

After having the apprehension of violence order or AVO placed on her, Kirralie appealed but the New South Wales Court of Appeal recently ruled against her. Put simply, the court is running interference for trans activists and progressives by ensuring no discussion is allowed on issues of sex and gender.

The placement of a AVO usually related to someone enacting violence, including assault, acting threateningly, stalking, harassing, intimidating, physically approaching, or contacting a person(s). In this case, the judge has conflated expressing gender critical views as an act of violence.

As Kirallie herself has stated, “If they can redefine the word woman, why wouldn’t they redefine the word violence?

In another case, which Kirralie has also lost, another biological man in a women’s team has won a vilification case in a New South Wales local court. Similar to the apprehension of violence order (AVO), the basic argument is that simply pointing out the biological truth of someone is now vilification.

Many advocates for biological truth and women’s rights point out the bullying nature of trans activists – from silencing critics to deplatforming speakers, aggressive protests to actual assaults, as New Zealanders witnessed at Albert Park.  In Australia, they can now add legal bullying to this list.
