As to the ‘born female’, what that really means is that third-world doctors in Bumfukistan were unable to pick up a medical condition that makes males appear, in early childhood, as ‘females’.
There is a condition called 5-ARD which leads to males being born with undescended testes and female looking genitals.

The peculiar – cruel, even – thing about this particular condition is that, while they are genetically male, boys suffering from it appear feminine at birth, at least to doctors unable to spot it.
The newborns might have genitalia resembling labia majora, which would be unfused labioscrotal folds. The phallus in these children may look more like a clitoris than a penis.
Inside, though, they’re all boy.
At the same time, the internal genitalia in these children include seminal vesicles, epididymis, vas deferens, and ejaculatory duct, and one may not see any Mullerian structures. The testes in these children might be present in the inguinal sac and, very rarely, they can also be found within the abdomen. These children tend to be raised as females until puberty.
That’s when something startling happens: the apparent ‘girls’ rapidly ‘virilise’. That is, instead of growing breasts and getting their period, the former ‘clitoris’ grossly enlarges to become an actual penis. The testes descend. Their voice deepens and they start growing facial hair.
More importantly, their muscles grow in to the more typical male muscle mass.
We can only imagine how distressing this must be to someone who has spent their young life believing he was a girl. Especially in a rigid, gender-straitjacketed culture like Muslim Algeria.
Although some children with this enzyme deficiency are raised as girls, many would change their gender to males at puberty after virilization. There are multiple factors, such as culture and environmental pressures, which can influence the gender changes in these children.
To some unscrupulous adults, though, they represent a golden opportunity.
Scouts and trainers look out for these children, born in rural areas of developing countries, who have papers that say female but who have male bodies.
