Are you irked like me concerning the New Zealand political landscape? Do you feel politically homeless? Do you feel betrayed by those in power so much that you don’t want to align yourself with ANY of the parties?

Perhaps you feel strangely free? A bit like me? You see I have decided that NONE of the existing parties represented in our current NZ parliament deserve my vote. Not because I am up myself but because I feel betrayed by all sitting MPs and I’m disenchanted with the other parties outside parliament as well.

The recent behaviour of NZ politicians has brought home to me afresh that those in power no longer represent my values or the values of many New Zealanders. Not even close!

For leaders of our country to coerce citizens on personal medical matters, to treat them as second-class citizens, to deny them their rights and their voice, and to refuse to listen to their concerns: this is to walk down an absolutely dystopian path.

They even used the police against decent citizens like Leighton Baker and Brian Tamaki! That is not justice. That is anti-justice, anti-freedom and anti-human-rights. Chopping off the heads of dissenters is the path of communists, dictators, and fascists, not the path of freedom-loving Kiwis. I hope your blood is boiling too as you read this.

You see, I believe that many New Zealanders have a pretty egalitarian worldview. “Live and let live”, “look after the little people and we’ll all be alright together”, “protect the weak and vulnerable”, “small government is best”, “government is there to serve us, not rule over us”, “democracy means giving maximum power, peace and freedom to the people”, “let me live my own life in peace”. Values and principles like these resonate with us. But in recent times ALL of these values have been attacked, not only by the party in power, but all “opposition” parties joined in lock-step supporting these ongoing attacks on our values and freedoms. I am irked by this. Irked, disenfranchised, and unrepresented.

What about the minor parties? Are they the hope of the future or the fellowship of the damned? The coalition of the disgruntled or the wasteland of the “wasted vote”? Matt King wants to join them and add one more party to the mix, DemocracyNZ.

These minor parties have seen the problems – yay – but are actually perpetuating them by refusing to unite against the common enemy (The Status Quo parties and global agendas) – boo.

It is now time to sacrifice egos and even your parties for the common good folks. Together you can make a difference. A huge proportion of voters currently voting Labour and National are so afraid of wasting their vote that they carry on supporting the parties which they are not happy with. And no, Winston is not the answer. He put the current lot into power in 2017.

The “wasted vote”, as far as I am concerned, has grown from 8.9% at the 2020 election to 100% now. Whoever I vote for at the next election, it won’t be for any of the current lot. My vote is up for grabs.

I will need some convincing that any new offering is not going to perpetuate or be subsumed by the status quo.  I want to vote for something that prioritises the re-empowering and protection of citizens, and that is not about egos and personalities.

Set yourself free today. Decide that you will not vote for ANY of the current lot.

Declare your allegiance to freedom and democracy instead. Make your vote count the way you want it to.
