Just a bloke sharing thoughts on New Zealand and the world beyond. No fluff, just honest takes.

In a revolting display of depravity, Wiparera Paraire, a 27-year-old Auckland man, has confessed to orchestrating a vile child prostitution ring, exploiting a 14-year-old girl and her underage friends for profit. His actions, laid bare in the High Court at Auckland, expose a sickening disregard for human dignity and a predatory manipulation of vulnerable children.

Paraire, appearing via audio-video from Rimutaka Prison, could barely contain his impatience as he interrupted the courtroom registrar, snarling “Guilty, guilty, guilty” while she detailed his grotesque crimes. These included producing an objectionable video of the 14-year-old in 2023 and orchestrating a commercial sex operation involving three girls, all under 16. “I wasn’t made aware of all their names, but guilty,” he callously admitted, as if the anonymity of his victims lessened his monstrous acts.

The court revealed the nauseating details: Paraire, fully aware of the 14-year-old’s age after police warnings in May 2023, not only continued an illegal relationship with her but twisted it into a depraved business venture. He pimped her out to adult men, encouraging her to recruit her own friends – children as young as herself – into his sordid scheme. Acting as his “lieutenant”, the girl was coerced into supervising other victims while Paraire pocketed a share of their earnings, grooming another child in the process to expand his repulsive enterprise.

Social media exchanges, uncovered by the girl’s mother, paint a chilling picture of Paraire’s predatory tactics. In Snapchat messages, he urged the hospitalized teen to work, promising payment while coaching her to manipulate and rob clients. “Ayy ata girl,” he wrote, praising her for servicing a client in an Auckland hotel, even advising her on pickpocketing. In another stomach-churning exchange, the girl offered up a 16-year-old friend, sending Paraire nude photos and profile details, to which he responded with instructions to “make it sound convincing” to lure the new victim into his web.

Paraire’s actions are a grotesque betrayal of humanity, preying on children for profit with a calculated, heartless efficiency. Facing up to 14 years in prison for charges including dealing in minors for sexual exploitation and making objectionable material, he awaits sentencing in July. The case lays bare a horrifying underworld of exploitation, leaving an indelible stain on Auckland’s conscience.
