Back in 2015, I compared the Trump campaign to the classic comedy Caddyshack. Hillary and the Dems were the snooty Establishment who ran the club just how they wanted it, while Trump was the crass billionaire gatecrasher who turned the place into a real party. It was the slob versus the swamp, and it was more fun than a chocolate bar in the swimming pool.
But, the Establishment creeps have evicted the Kek party bros. So, sorry folks, the party’s over.
That doesn’t mean that the comedy has ended. Only now, it’s a tragi-comedy.
The Biden-Harris administration has supplanted Trump’s as the funniest US presidency. Not even two years into their awkward duumvirate, Biden and Kamala Harris have left a hilarious trail of practically weekly if not daily gags, injecting new life into the forgotten genre of male-female comedy duos.
In just the last few weeks, Joe Biden has fallen off his bike, claimed that a 10-year-old girl was travelling to Indiana to “terminate the presidency” and read from his teleprompter: “end of quote. Repeat the line”. If only the teleprompter had said, “Go fuck yourself, San Diego”.
In his State of the Union address in March, Biden said Vladimir Putin “may circle Kyiv with tanks but he’ll never win the hearts and souls of the Iranian people” – a poor forecast given Iran has just sent drones to help Russia in its invasion.
The Australian
The Bidens are keeping the comedy gold in the family. Just days ago, the First Lady described Hispanic Americans as “breakfast tacos”.
Then there’s Biden’s Veep. Kamala Harris appears to know what a joke she is, judging by her habit of bursting into weird cackling at the most inappropriate times. Such as when discussing the Ukrainian refugee crisis with the Polish president.
Meanwhile, in March, Harris, betraying a no less comedic style, gave what may become the most memorable speech of her tenure:
Talking about the significance of the passage of time, right, the significance of the passage of time, so when you think about it, there is a great significance to the passage of time, in terms of what we need to do to lay these wires … and there is such great significance to the passage of time when we think about a day in the life of our children.
Then there’s the black comedy clown show that is Hunter Biden. Everything from crack-selfing selfies to videotaping himself arguing with Ukrainian prostitutes about whether he abused them or not. Not to mention photos allegedly showing him posing with pre-teen girls in the most inappropriate manner imaginable.
Face it, if you didn’t laugh at the Biden presidency, you’d have to cry. Or vomit.
