You know we’re living in a Clown World when BLM are actually making sense.
I’ll wait while Good Oil readers wipe the coffee from their screens.
While the rest of the left’s NPCs switched programming this week, from “Joe is as sharp as a tack and fit to lead!” to “We love Kamala now!”, BLM are actually honest enough to point out the Democrats’ un-democratic duplicity.
“Nothing can come in the way of saving our democracy,” declared Joe Biden. Except, apparently, democracy.
Kamala Harris did not become the Democratic nominee by any democratic process. In fact, she’s barely stood the test of democracy in her entire career. Her first political office, California Attorney General, was the barest scrape-in, in that bluest of states (while other Democrats on the same ballot romped home). Harris is such political poison to voters that she dropped out of both the 2016 and 2020 primaries without ever garnering a single vote.
So, how did she become the 2024 nominee? By fiat from the Democratic National Convention party bosses.
BLM are having none of it.
A 24-hour process of talking to party bosses is not democratic, nor is it a process Democrats should be proud of. We do not live in a dictatorship. Delegates are not oligarchs.
Installing Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee and an unknown vice president without any public voting process would make the modern Democratic Party a party of hypocrites.
You don’t say.
It’s just the latest and most blatant example of the born-to-rule arrogance of the DNC. Bernie Sanders was a popular candidate in 2016, and an obvious threat to the DNC’s annointed candidate, Hillary Clinton. So, the DNC changed the rules to deliberately lock Sanders and his delegates out.
This year, the DNC refused to even allow debates during the primary. As BLM note, this was clearly designed to keep Biden’s cognitive decline hidden from voters. The DNC also changed the primary schedule and once again created new rules that effectively locked out challengers to the incumbent.
Following the primary where millions of Black voters weighed in, after one poor debate performance, the DNC Party elites and billionaire donors bullied Joe Biden out of the race.
Now, Democratic Party elites and billionaire donors are attempting to manipulate Black voters by anointing Kamala Harris and an unknown vice president as the new Democratic ticket without a primary vote by the public. This blatant disregard for democratic principles is unacceptable.
Far from being mollified by the blatant pitch to win back black voters who’ve been drifting from the Democrat plantation, BLM are rightly outraged at the un-democratic process. Nor, clearly, are they much fans of Harris.
We have no idea where Kamala Harris stands on the issues, now that she has assumed Joe Biden’s place, and we have no idea of the record of her potential vice president because we don’t even know who it is yet.
At Black Lives Matter, our focus is on building strong communities, addressing root issues, and creating spaces of justice and joy. This election process has been a disservice to our communities and to democracy. Historically, Black people have been loyal Democratic voters, but time and again, the party has taken our votes for granted and prioritized political theatrics over our real needs.
Oh, you’re just noticing, now?
BLM are rightly pointing out that the democratic thing to do, in the interests of really “saving democracy”, would be to “immediately host an informal, virtual snap primary across the country prior to the DNC convention in August”.
Yeah, good luck with that. The last thing the Democrats want in 2024 is actual democracy.
