The National Cathedral in Washington D.C. replaced its once-beautiful stained glass windows this week in honour of Black Lives Matter protestors.

The new windows are titled “Now and Forever.” Woven between pieces of stained glass are individuals standing and marching and carrying signs that say “Fairness,” “No Foul Play,” and “NOT.” The entire display takes place over four window panes.

On Saturday, a ceremony was held to honour the new “art” and the artist, Kerry James Marshall, who said the windows were symbolic of what needs “repair” in America. He claimed that the windows “reinforce those ideals and aspirations embodied in the Cathedral’s structure and its mission to remind us that we can be better, and do better than we did yesterday, today.”

Previously, the windows honoured Confederate Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson, as CNN reported Monday. Those window designs had been in place since 1953 and were designed to “foster reconciliation” between the North and the South, according to CNN.

Reverend Randolph Marshall Hollerith, the current dean, said the following at the new windows’ dedication on Saturday:

They told a false narrative, extolling two individuals who fought to keep the institution of slavery alive in this country. They were intended to elevate the Confederacy, and they completely ignored the millions of Black Americans who have fought so hard and struggled so long to claim their birthright as equal citizens.

The original windows had reportedly been on their way out for a while. According to CNN, in 2016 cathedral leadership at the Episcopal Diocese of Washington voted to remove the panes with Confederate flags and replace them with plain glass. When they were eventually removed in 2017 after a protestor died in Charlottesville, VA, they were stored at the cathedral. Then, in 2020, after the death of George Floyd, the window panes were donated to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture for a year-long exhibition.

The new BLM windows were unveiled Saturday.

In lieu of the news, one user online was in disbelief. Can’t say I blame him.

In a post from an account called “End Wokeness” which depicted images of the windows, a rapper called Zuby said, “Nah… Surely not.”

Others said things like “That’s no longer a house of worship that’s a house of sin,” another added, “Wow…. Social justice is officially the state religion,” and one more wrote, “Perfect illustration of their new post-Christian religion.”

They aren’t wrong. As you and I are well aware, the BLM movement was a giant scam. These windows do nothing to help unite people or bring people to Christ. They’re just another symbol of how progressive, brainwashed and anti-Christian the left really is.

What a shame!
