The BFD. Discrimination of the Day
Medical Apartheid. Cartoon credit BoomSlang. The BFD.
So yesterday I went to my 3 monthly doctors checkup, (my doctor is a happy Muslim chappy and we quite often stray into politics and other non medical matters, he was saying he has just sold 3 out of 4 of his rental houses, due to the government’s regulations and is leaving his 4th empty fir its capital gain) but I digress.

6 weeks ago he changed my diabetic medication to better manage it, and it is working, he now wishes to try a new drug that he says will bring further benefits, not only to my diabetes but also to weight management and heart health…..but there is a catch, and he asked me wether I had any ( to quote him “any Maori” in me) as if I did the new medication was free, if not the cost would be $90.00 per month.

I can easily afford the $90.00 per month, but what if I was a struggling older pale male, is this a forerunner of our “new” health system based on race!!!
