Is Climate Cultism the most hypocritical ideology since socialism? As the hilarious example of pontificating NZ schoolgirl Izzy Cook showed, those who prate the loudest about ‘climate action’ are the least to live by their own rules. Cook was no anomaly, either: previous research has identified that those who are the most vocal about ‘living green’ tend to have the largest carbon footprints.
The hypocrisy is as real for nations as it is for people. Some of the most vocal island nations demanding ‘climate reparations’ have per capita emissions as high or higher than the United States. For all its finger-wagging, the EU is the fourth-highest emitter in the world. India is the third-highest.
Three guesses where they stand on ‘climate action’ – at least, when it comes to them.
India is unlikely to present its climate commitment before the end of the annual United Nations climate summit, raising questions about how the world’s most populous nation can influence others to confront climate change.
Like any Climate Cultist, it’s all about do as they say, not as they do.
At the conference this week, Bhupender Yadav, India’s environment minister, highlighted how the country achieved its previous climate goals ahead of schedule. He also urged rich nations to pay more to help developing countries transition to green energy and respond to the impacts of climate change.
“Climate change is no longer a distant manifestation, but is real and imminent”, he said Monday when speaking at the conference. “Unsustainable growth and development have put Mother Earth under deep stress”.
Just don’t ask them to make any sacrifices.
Germanwatch, a nonprofit environmental think tank, said that last year, India’s climate action lagged behind other countries, in part because of its continued dependence on coal. The body on Tuesday released its annual climate change performance index, dropping India from #10 last year to #23 this year.
And keeping them right up at #3 in the pollution stakes.
Yet, still they persist with their bare-faced hypocrisy.
Harjeet Singh, founding director of the Satat Sampada Climate Foundation, said Yadav’s statement is a sign that ambitious global climate plans will not be effective unless there are legal obligations for countries to meet them. At the same time, India’s voice is more crucial than ever as the United States, the world’s largest historical broadcaster, withdraws from its climate commitments, he said.
These people have more front than Myers. Their blatant hypocrisy isn’t stopping them from holding the begging bowl out, though.
India has also openly criticized an agreement reached in previous climate talks for countries to contribute $300 billion for climate needs, saying the sum is too low.
On Monday, Yadav called on rich countries to “provide new, additional and concessional climate finance on a scale of trillions, not billions” […]
India is seeking concrete details on global financial commitments to combat climate change, said another energy expert attending the summit.
In other words, they’re demanding trillions of dollars of other peoples’ money, even while they pump out gigatons more pollution than just about anyone else.
If these scumbags didn’t have double-standards, they wouldn’t have any.
