The personal story told in that TV programme (No Maori Allowed) was very real to those telling it. That story is from a time in living memory. Where were all those other Maori of that generation not interviewed or part of that programme?
Companies such as Stuff and NZME (publisher of the Herald) can make their own rules, as long as they’re willing to risk consequences such as loss of trust and declining readership. RNZ (and TVNZ, but let’s not go there) has no such latitude.
Those who dare challenge elite opinion cartels will always pay the price. But they can live and die with a clean conscience. What matters more?
