Europe’s Open Arms and Empty Heads

The spectre of Islamic terror is still stalking Europe. The BFD. Photoshop by Lushington Brady.

“Pathological altruism”, a phrase popularised by the book of the same name, refers to altruism that is taken to an unhealthy extreme, such that either it harms the altruistic person, or their well-intentioned actions cause more harm than good. As the famous proverb puts it, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Addicted to virtue-signalling over good sense, European nations paved themselves a road to hell, all the way from the Sahel and Syria to Paris and Berlin, when Angela Merkel threw open the gates of Europe to a flood of millions of illegal immigrants. Their pathological altruism was brutally rewarded on New Years Eve 2015, with a well-co-ordinated campaign of mass rape across Europe perpetrated by “migrants” and “refugees”.

What the hell happened? The BFD.

More recently, Vienna endured a brutal terror attack, committed by a supposedly “de-radicalised” Islamic State sympathiser.

Apparently, European leaders have learned nothing.

Germany and Finland have repatriated five women and 18 children from Syrian camps housing suspected family members of Islamic State (IS) militants.

The foreign ministries of both nations said the women and children were brought back this weekend for humanitarian reasons.

Ah, yes, it’s all “human rights” for the swivel-eyed fanatics of the Religion of Peace – not so much for their inevitable victims.

Three of the women were under investigation for allegedly belonging to IS, German media said.

Hundreds of Europeans who joined IS are in Kurdish-run camps in northern Syria […]

Concerned about the security risk they pose, some European governments have been reluctant to repatriate their citizens from the camps.

Gee, I wonder why? Aside from the “de-radicalised” Vienna terrorist, Australia has also just experienced the fruit of keeping a “de-radicalised” IS sympathiser on our soil, instead of letting them toddle off to their precious caliphate and good riddance.

Enter the “human rights” groups.

But human rights groups have urged governments to take their citizens back, arguing that leaving women and children in the camps puts them at risk of illness and radicalisation.

Because joining the IS caliphate wasn’t “radicalised”, apparently.

But who cares, so long as the pathologically altruistic consciences of the elites are salved.

On Sunday Germany’s Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said he was “very relieved that we were able to repatriate another 12 children and three mothers from camps in north-eastern Syria yesterday”[…]

In Finland, the foreign ministry said it had brought home six children and two mothers.

“Under the constitution, Finnish public authorities are obligated to safeguard the basic rights of the Finnish children interned in the camps insofar as this is possible,” it said.

It’s all fun and virtue-signalling until the mass rapes start. The BFD.

Bugger the human rights of the women raped, the elderly parishioners beheaded, or the Jews driven out of Europe.

Just so long as “progressive” appearances are kept up.
