Australian choir director Astrid Jorgensen, originally from Hamilton, has taken her spine-tingling performance to one of the biggest stages on TV in America.

The 34-year-old former school teacher was invited to America’s Got Talent by the producers who had spotted her Pub Choir renditions, where she gets hundreds of audience members to sing together.

“I even feel goose bumpy hearing that myself,” Jorgensen says after listening back to her audition on the show. “It’s such a wild thing that’s happened in my life. I was there, but I can scarcely believe it myself hearing it back.”
