Two people have been charged with neglect in relation to the unexplained historical death of a child in Kaikohe.
Police have been investigating the death of 4-year-old Alestra Kepa-Hati since she died in October 2015.
On Thursday, police said a man and a woman had been arrested in relation to the decade-long investigation.
“Today we arrested a 60-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman, who have both been charged with four counts of neglect of a child under 18,” Detective Sergeant Natalie Syddall said.
“Three of those charges relate to Alestra and one to another child.”
