Children of the 90s and 00s rejoice: Pingu is getting a revival.
Aardman, the makers of Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit, has teamed up with Mattel to bring the cheeky penguin back to life, almost 18 years after its last run.
The new stop motion 3D animated television series will feature Pingu at home in the South Pole, as he navigates tricky and sometimes comical situations, alongside his parents, friends and little sister Pinga.
In a statement, Mattel chief franchise officer Josh Silverman said Pingu had stood the test of time, becoming a social media hit despite being from a previous era.
“With Aardman’s stop motion magic and Pingu’s universal charm that has made him a social media hit, we are excited to create fresh snow-filled stories about our favourite penguin that are sure to warm hearts worldwide.”
