Transport Minister Simeon Brown said Auckland Transport has been falling short of the expectations of the Government and Aucklanders.
He said the changes will enable Aucklanders to influence the transport decisions that affect their daily lives.
Brown said democratic accountability has been sorely lacking when it comes to Auckland Transport.
