An Auckland businessman has been captured on camera allegedly attacking protesters outside a bar on Auckland’s Viaduct, leaving one person with two broken ribs.

Deno Stock, 73, was part of the Freedom For The Animals activist group that were going around different bars in the city and protesting the Melbourne Cup in November.

Stock said as the group was standing outside the back of Botswana Butchery, financial consultant Andrew Hay came out and shoved him to the ground.

Stock told Stuff that Hay had allegedly approached the protesters earlier and tried to remove his mega phone.

“But it was wrapped around my arm so he couldn’t pull it off.”
