As many will know, I am no fan of Martyn Bradbury, especially as he was part of a concerted left-wing campaign that regularly met during Dirty Politics to plan tactics. It was at one of those meeting that Bradbury proposed ramping up the attacks because he said I suffered from depression and if they pushed me hard enough I might suicide.
I know this because several people who were in attendance told me how sickened they were by his stance.
That was in 2014. He launched his blog, the Daily Blog, in March of 2013, with the stated aim of challenging and beating me (Whaleoil) in the traffic stakes.
He never has and here we are 11 years later and he still can’t beat me and, more importantly, he can’t beat you.
He’s currently on the bludge to keep his site running.
Comrades
It’s been a hell of a year.
Despite the hacks that knocked us off line this year, despite the threats from the Atlas Network against us, despite the rest of the media world collapsing, TDB is still here!
This year we brought you the most watched Podcast of 2024 and we brought you a gold award winning Political Podcast and TDB still hits quarter of a million views each month.
It’s the end of the year, the team here are buggered and before we take a break we ask you for our annual Christmas Contribution.
Martyn Bradbury
Poor Martyn Bradbury: only 250,000 page views a month.
The Good Oil page views per month exceed 775,000 and sometimes have gone over a million page views in a month.
Martyn has picked his best number, and it’s less than average.
He’s only a third as good as me and I’ve had a major stroke.
But here’s a number that he won’t ever beat: the average engagement time per active user for the time period selected. Our average engagement time per active user is 26m 17s.
You can be all very proud of what we manage to achieve, despite all the travails of the past.
Nicky Hager wrote Dirty Politics to destroy me and you. He failed. Martyn Bradbury started the Daily Blog to ‘beat’ Cam Slater. He failed.
So, as we head into Christmas, I’d like to use this post to thank all of our audience, especially those who are members, and, naturally, no thanks should be given without thanking the amazing staff who work tirelessly to ensure the content you all love and cherish keeps flowing.
A special thanks to Lyn, our editor. She stepped up when I needed her most.
We’ve achieved a lot together and next year is the 20th anniversary of me starting blogging.
I am planning on a tour next year around the country to thank as many of you as possible and I’m planning an event in July on the anniversary of my start. Details will be announced in the New Year, but planning so far includes a roast of me and a Q+A-like interview with a media personality asking me your questions.
In the mean time, if you aren’t a member you really should be. We’ve ditched the ads, and I don’t want them to return, but that is up to you: 150 more members will see ads disappear entirely. We are now fully supported by memberships.
The change of platform has given us much more flexibility, especially around newsletters.
We have also launched a news section in partnership with Centrist.
So, if you are already a paying member, thank you for your support: some of you have been here for the ride for 20 years. If you aren’t, why not? Is five dollars a month too much?
Please consider joining us.
Thank you all for your ongoing support.
