The National Party caucus has rocks in their heads if they think that today’s face of the day is the answer to the Simon Bridges problem. Most of NZ don’t even know who he is! Then again this is the same caucus that thought that a male version of Jacinda Ardern was the answer. No doubt they will soon exercise the same poor judgement that gave us Simon Bridges. I have zero faith in their ability to give the base who they want and the National party who they need.

Who is today’s face of the day? Do you know who this is?

Here is a clue…

The BFD
National Party MP Todd Muller emailed his colleagues on Wednesday afternoon laying out his formal challenge for the leadership of the National Party, saying it could not win the election under Simon Bridges.
National MPs are meeting on Friday in Wellington for an emergency meeting after a devastating Newshub/Reid Research poll put huge pressure on Bridges’ leadership. They are expected to hold a vote on whether he should continue on as leader.
The email to the entire National caucus, sent not long after 4pm, noted that Muller had formally notified Bridges and party president Peter Goodfellow of the challenge.
The Bay of Plenty MP said the country faced the biggest challenge since World War II and needed a National government to steer it through.
“It is essential that National wins this election,” Muller wrote.
“I share the view of the majority of my colleagues that this is not possible under the current leadership.”
He wrote that Labour had failed in Government and the consequences of it being re-elected would cause long-term damage.
“Labour has failed to deliver on every measure it has set for itself in Government. This will not change and the consequences of it being re-elected at this time will be catastrophic for two generations.”
“I believe I am best placed to earn the trust of New Zealanders by September 19. I will be talking to each one of you about how we can all pull together and be deserving of New Zealanders’ trust.”
