He had suffered with kidney disease, a common ailment for elderly big cats, which in captivity had a typical lifespan of 16 to 20 years.

“Over the past few days, his condition began to deteriorate quickly, and after a full health examination, it became clear that euthanising him was necessary due to his quality of life being compromised.”
