Former member of the legendary American singing group the Commodores, Ronald LaPread, has died.
The 75-year-old had lived in Auckland for 40 years after he married New Zealand woman Fari LaPread.
LaPread’s daughter, music producer Soraya LaPread, confirmed the news on social media on Sunday.
“It’s with a very heavy heart that I must announce that my father Ronald LaPread has passed,” she said on Instagram.
Originally from Alabama, LaPread was the bass player for the Tuskegee group from 1970 to 1986, playing on 11 of their albums.
During his tenure with the group, they had hits such as Brick House, Easy, and Three Times A Lady, among others.
