An animal welfare advocate has fiercely condemned the organiser of a controversial South Island feral cat hunt, blasting his live breakfast television appearance in which he brandished a furry sex toy and openly admitted he was hungover.
Farmer and North Canterbury Hunting Club competition organiser Mat Bailey was interviewed live on TVNZ’s Breakfast show on Monday morning where he spoke about his hunting event that saw more than 400 feral cats killed.
He also pulled out what appeared to be a sex toy with a tail.
Anne Batley-Burton from NZ Cat Foundation, who was interviewed prior to Bailey, told Stuff she was disappointed by the way he spoke, along with the amount of airtime he received.
