Face of the Day

When Hoyt approached Seymour and asked for his signature, the MP wasn’t thrilled.

An Auckland artist says he was left “taken aback” after David Seymour wrote “not quite me but nice art” on a portrait he had done of the ACT Party leader.

Jason Hoyt has been painting a series of portraits of New Zealand politicians, including the likes of Chloe Swarbrick and Qiulae Wong. The signed artwork is then auctioned online for charity.

The artist told Stuff on Monday he went along to a public meeting of Seymour’s in July to present him with the painting.
