Ani O’Brien said “in desperation or frustration” she made a complaint with NetSafe – which receives and assesses complaints – and then took the case under the Harmful Digital Communications Act.

O’Brien told Stuff ahead of the hearing that she had no objection to Bradbury attacking her politics, views or work, but believed his commentary had become increasingly personal and distressing.

“It wasn’t about him calling me right-wing or disagreeing with my politics or even mocking my arguments or my work. That’s fine. I accept that.”

She said “in desperation or frustration” she made a complaint with NetSafe – which receives and assesses complaints – and then took the case under the Harmful Digital Communications Act. “I was at a really low ebb, and I just wanted it to stop.”

Note from Cam: This is not a free speech issue. If you read the complaint (I have), it is very clear this is about harassment not free speech. I support Ani O’Brien in this matter. Sometimes a bad law has to be used to highlight it is bad, but the law is the law and Mr Bradbury thinks he is above the law.
