After 12 years and multiple stints in both government and opposition, National Party MP for Whāngarei Dr Shane Reti has farewelled parliament.
Reti reflected on his early years in parliament and the things he was proud of during his time making a name for himself as the MP for Whangārei. He also lamented the unfinished business he didn’t quite manage to get to.
As a medical doctor by trade, Reti always had the prospect of becoming health minister in his sights. Nearly a decade after entering parliament, he finally got that chance this term.
