National leader Christopher Luxon says the behaviour of two opposition MPs in Parliament on Thursday was “unacceptable”, and offered “a glimpse” into what a Labour-led coalition government could look like.
Te Pāti Māori co-leader Debbie Ngarewa-Packer was kicked out of the House, after saying the c-word, while parliament’s serjeant-at-arms was then called to remove Labour MP Willie Jackson.
Ngarewa-Packer made the remark after Speaker Maureen Pugh told fellow Te Pāti Māori MP Oriini Kaipara to watch her language in response to her calling the government’s move-on orders “bull crap”.
Pugh did not hear Ngarewa-Packer’s original remark and it wasn’t captured by parliament’s microphones, but NZ First’s Casey Costello informed the speaker what had happened. Costello alleged the word was directed at Pugh, which Ngarewa-Packer denied.
