Face of the Day

RNZ’s head of audio Pip Keane says Gower is a brilliant broadcaster and has been a popular fill-in host over the past few years.

Experienced television and radio journalist Paddy Gower has been named as the new presenter of RNZ’s Saturday Morning programme, starting in 2027.

Gower says the show has an incredible legacy and he will work hard to build on it.

“I’ll be doing big interviews that make us think. Interviews with empathy that open people up. And I will be doing interviews that are just plain fun,” he said making the announcement on Friday.

“Regular RNZ National listeners are going to get all the stuff they already love – just with a Paddy vibe.”

Gower has worked at RNZ as an occasional host since mid-2024, hosting King’s Birthday programming and filling in for Kathryn Ryan on Nine to Noon on RNZ National. He has also hosted the summer edition of Morning Report.
