Matthew Hooton has resigned from his PR role in the National party after only 9 weeks in the job. He was a vocal advocate for Todd Muller to replace Simon Bridges as leader and Todd Muller took him on as his campaign strategist after he rolled Simon Bridges.

I think that resigning was the right thing for Matthew Hooton to do as you have to question the political judgement of anyone who thought that Todd Muller had what it took to lead the National party to victory. He didn’t back a winning horse and Judith Collins will be better served when she becomes PM by a PR person who knows a winner when they see one.
