International support for University of Canterbury China expert Anne-Marie Brady

More overseas experts have added their voices to calls for the University of Canterbury to apologise to its China expert and to stop the review of her work.

Professor Anne-Marie Brady is undergoing an internal review process after her paper – Holding a Pen in One Hand and Gripping a Gun in the Other – sparked complaints from several academics.

The paper outlined how universities, academics and businesses could be inadvertently helping the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) by collaborating with Chinese agencies in hi-tech research. It mentions academics and itemises their links to Chinese institutions and agencies.

Brady has been told not to make public comments about the review while it is under way.
